Fil Am Breakfast

The first Sunday of every month, at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, a different ministry or group sponsors a breakfast for all parishioners to enjoy. It is a great way to create fellowship especially since our parish grows right now with many winter visitors.

December was the month for the Fil Am Club to sponsor the breakfast. Now Fil Am does not mean-"fill in the morning" as one parishioner thought who was helping with the breakfast and saw this on the outside of a 40 cup coffee maker. It means the "Filipino American Club". This is a very active organization both in our parish and at St. Andrew's Parish also located in Sierra Vista.

Two breakfast plates were offered.

Plate #1 was the traditional Filipino breakfast.

Plate #2 is an American Breakfast!

Having a pastor, (Rev. Ariel Lustan), who is Filipino, he highly encouraged all at each Mass to try the Filipino breakfast-and many did.

Yes, Santa, also came to try the Filipino breakfast.
He is with Jerry, a 90 year old parishioner, who helps out at many of our breakfasts, along with his wife Nancy, who makes the best sausage gravy for the biscuits.

She also loves to entertain in the slack times.

Here is most of our crew that served up Plate 1 and Plate 2!
A good breakfast was enjoyed by many parishioners and a good time was had by the crew!

Be sure to join us for the first Sunday in January for another parish breakfast. If you are hungry before that, come for breakfast on Sunday, December 15th when the PTSO-Parent-Teacher-Student Organization will be having their "Breakfast With Santa". Two options again-French Toast or Pancakes  and many silent auction and raffle prizes.  Also, the school's choir, will be caroling at the breakfast.

Have a holy Advent Season!
